Holy Week is approaching. Following Palm Sunday, this Sunday, we will launch into a week of contemplation and reflection which includes the remembering the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday and the Crucifixion on Good Friday.
During Holy Week this year we will have the opportunity to walk the Labyrinth in the sanctuary beginning Monday, March 30th. The Labyrinth will be open through Thursday from 10:00 – 4:00. On April 3rd, Good Friday, we will have a brief Good Friday Service while gathering in the chancel, the area behind the pulpit. This service will include the remembering of the events on Good Friday, the extinguishing of the Christ Candle and the draping of the cross in a black cloth. An invitation to continue in reflection and contemplation as we walk the labyrinth will come at the close of the service.
Labyrinth walking, a form of active meditation, is an ancient practice used by many different faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. Entering the serpentine path of a labyrinth, you walk slowly while quieting your mind and focusing on a spiritual question or prayer, or simply embracing the silence and listening to your breath as you take each step.

You are invited to come and walk the Labyrinth at Mill Woods United Church as we journey into Holly Week.
Shalom.
